STRENGTH IN NUMBERS
Royse City resident, Lisa Cook, was diagnosed with Stage II Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Breast Cancer on July 18, 2011 at the age of 40. Through various treatments, including a bilateral mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, a hysterectomy, and numerous breast reconstruction surgeries, she has been fortunate to have fought and survived. Shortly after her diagnosis, her awesome friends and family formed a team, Strength in Numbers, to come together, raise awareness, and fund raise in the fight against cancer. Initially, the team raised money to help with Lisa's medical bills. The team now fund raises for the American Cancer Society. Strength in Numbers was inspired by the bible verse Matthew 18:20, "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." NIV
Lisa encourages women to stay vigilant in having mammograms and other health testing on a regular basis. Lisa's two tumors were found ONLY through a mammogram. They could not be felt, even by a doctor who knew where they were, because they were so deep.
Team Strength in Numbers participates in the Relay for Life of Rockwall County every year. Relay for Life is sponsored by the American Cancer Society. The American Cancer Society fights cancers of ALL types and is a wonderful organization that aids in the fight against cancer.
LaRue Chic Boutique created the Strength in Numbers logo and it has been a HUGE success, generating so much money for the fight through t-shirts and other merchandise!
This year, we have created two additional shirts that are inspired by Strength in Numbers. 100% of the net profit will be paid to the American Cancer Society via team Strength in Numbers, Relay for Life.
